by Julie Pennell | Jun 21, 2015 | across the ponderings, british things

Well guys, this is it. I can’t believe the time has come to leave our wonderful adventure of a year in Oxford and head back to New York City tomorrow. Our time abroad has been a life-changing experience, and I’m so happy you all have been with us on the...

A Comparative Analysis: British Festivals vs. American Ones

A Comparative Analysis: British Festivals vs. American Ones

by Julie Pennell | Jun 1, 2015 | across the ponderings, british things, festivals

This weekend, we stumbled upon a huge festival happening in our neighborhood park. There were rides, arts & craft tents, performers, and food–all familiar things, sure, yet there were still some little things that felt different. Here’s how a British...

A Short Guide to Navigating British Pubs

by Julie Pennell | May 21, 2015 | across the ponderings, british things, pubs

One of the things we’re going to miss most about Oxford is everything you see in that picture right there. The White Hart is our local pub–it’s where Christopher and I cozied up during winter date nights and played scrabble by the fire. It’s...

by Julie Pennell | May 14, 2015 | across the ponderings, british things, expat

Our time in Oxford is coming to an end soon–we’ll be heading back to the US in a little over a month. The emotions I’m feeling are very mixed and very bittersweet. While I’m excited to be back (there’s definitely no place like home), this...

I seriously don’t know who’s more excited abou I seriously don’t know who’s more excited about these books — me or my 3-year-old. My mom brought me all of my childhood copies of The Berenstain Bears, and it’s pure nostalgia. These were my first book loves, and I’m so happy I get to share them with my sons. Which one was your favorite? I think mine was Trouble With Friends (oh, Lizzie Bruin!) #throwbackthursday
Happy release day to my friend @kristywharvey and Happy release day to my friend @kristywharvey and her new book, “Under the Southern Sky!” If you’re looking for a charming and heartwarming novel to pack in your beach bag, this is it! 📖☀️
My mom was set to come the week my baby was born b My mom was set to come the week my baby was born but the lockdowns started happening and she never made it. It wasn’t how I ever expected my mom would meet one of my babies, but it was perfect, and my heart is full 💕
